The registrar will also attend the outpatient clinics.
The Department of Gastroenterology has two full time and ten sessional gastroenterologists and covers a broad spectrum of luminal gastroenterology and hepatology. The Department runs outpatient clinics in liver disease, hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, oesophageal disorders and a general gastroenterology clinic.
The Department has active research programmes in inflammatory bowel disease, viral hepatitis, hepatic drug metaboloisim and outcomes research related to endoscopy. It has three or four research fellows and two research nurses.

The aim of the position is to assist with the development and project management of palliative care research projects for the Centre for Palliative Care (CPC). This position will focus specifically on undertaking a review of the literature relating to care planning and care pathways in palliative care, including identification of relevant tools which may underpin the care planning process. The review will inform the development of recommendations for improving care planning in palliative care and links directly to the work of the newly established Palliative Care Clinical Network (PCCN). This position will also need to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and be responsible for preparing progress reports and assisting with disseminating findings.

St Vincent’s Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and committed psychiatric registrar wishing to undertake education and training in providing psychosocial care in oncology and palliative care settings. The fellowship is funded by DoH to build the capacity of the workforce state-wide for the provision of these services to patients and their families. There are substantial consultation and liaison components within various tumour streams and palliative care, providing a true Consultation-Liaison experience. A small, clinically relevant research project will form part of the training and it is expected that this will count towards the RANZCP CL Certificate. The appointee will be part of a developing team which provides clinical service delivery, education and training, staff support, quality monitoring and improvement and research in this important area. The position is accredited by the VPTC for advanced training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

Medical Oncologist St Vincent’s Hospital – Full Time
St Vincent’s Hospital (SVH) is seeking to appoint a full time medical Oncologist
St Vincent’s is a highly respected provider of adult medical, surgical and mental health services and a range of community and outreach services. The hospital is a major teaching, research and tertiary referral centre situated on the fringe of Melbourne’s central business district. Delivery of Cancer Services is a key strategy for SVH. A new cancer centre will be opened in October 2010. This facility will allow state- of-the-art patient focused multidisciplinary care.
The hospital is seeking an energetic medical oncologist with strong clinical training and experience. The department offers a stimulating and supportive environment, and encourages clinical research activities in many areas of the specialty. Medical Oncologists with a research interest are encouraged to apply.
The position will contribute to service planning and support the service’s teaching and research activities. Clinical duties required include provision of clinical services to inpatients and outpatients, attendance at clinics located at STV and satellite clinics, attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings, supervision of junior medical staff and specialist trainees and participation in weekend and out of hours on call.

The Vascular Unit is staffed by A/Prof M. Denton, Mr. M. Lovelock and Mr. Mark Westcott. The Unit deals with the full range of vascular surgery including emergency vascular procedures. The Unit has particular expertise in carotid artery surgery and endovascular surgery, including endoluminal aortic aneurysm grafting.
